Barracuda Networks

June 2013 - Escalation Engineer, SSL VPN

I joined Barracuda in 2013 as an Escalation Engineer for their SSL VPN product (which was previously known in the open source community as SSL-Explorer). SSL-Explorer was created by a Nottingham-based company called 3SP Ltd who were acquired by Barracuda in 2018, but retained their Nottingham office for future product development and the highest tier of technical support (i.e. me in my position as Escalation Engineer). I worked alongside the Tier 1 and Tier 2 support staff (located in Innsbruck, Vienna, Ann Arbor and San Jose) and handled the cases that no one else was capable of solving. I also provided periodic training both remotely via web meetings and in person in the Innsbruck and Vienna offices in order to make escalations less frequent.

September 2018 - Senior Network Engineer, CloudGen Firewall/SSL VPN

In September 2018 I was promoted to Senior Network Engineer in order to better reflect my office duties (handling all IT provisions for the Nottingham office and their integration with the rest of Barracuda), the sunsetting of the SSL VPN product line, and my increased role in the future of Barracuda cloud-based firewall management solutions such as

  • Zero Touch Deployment
  • Firewall Management as a Service
  • SDWAN/CloudGen WAN, now SecureEdge
